Niambi and Thandi's sisterhood manifested in March 2013 when the two met as high school seniors at a scholarship orientation st NYU. After an instant connection, the girls performed at the orientation's talent showcase, totally unaware of how that moment foreshadowed a musical career in the works.
The name OSHUN pays homage to the Yoruba river deity ( Osun ) and her sisters ( Iyemoja and Oya ) who all represent elements of femininity and womanhood.
So their goal is to share Oshun's divine and peaceful omnipresence for the bigger purpose of empowering women, and all people, instilling confidence, cultural pride, and self-respect. This bigger purpose is within a re-emergin movement of cultural realignment, awareness and creativity.
